RUSSIAN JET ENGINES

RUSSIAN JET ENGINES

April 15, 2014

CHALLENGE: A major manufacturer of jet engines had known staff inefficiencies in terms of both number of staff (about 10X western standards for the same level of activity) and of command and control. Financial pressures were building in an insulated Russian market, and expansion into the intensely competitive world market appeared to be an option.

SERVICES/SOLUTION: David Connaughton did the financial analysis to demonstrate that implementing Lean, although costing millions of US Dollars, could position the company to achieve highly competitive costs. He also trained the executive team and other groups of managers in Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques at appropriate levels of detail.

RESULTS: Progressing slowly in a bureaucratic environment.
